Learn more about usOur Approach
We use research-backed art practices to help kids build emotional resilience, confidence, and healthy coping skills in a supportive, creative community.
Guided art-making helps kids express emotions that can be hard to name, turning feelings into images and stories they can understand and talk about. Research on art-based and creative arts therapies shows this process supports emotional regulation, self-awareness, and reduced distress, especially for children navigating stress or trauma.
We design sessions to feel emotionally safe and predictable, so kids can take creative risks without fear of judgment. Trauma-informed art therapy research highlights that safety, consistency, choice, and supportive relationships help children feel grounded, seen, and connected to others.
Creative projects teach kids that progress comes through trying, revising, and trying again. Art is a natural space to practice a growth mindset, persistence, and problem-solving, helping kids build confidence in their ability to handle challenges over time. We create room for kids to explore freely, test out new ideas, and express their own stories in ways that feel safe and empowering.
Krafty Kids sessions are led in partnership with community organizations.
About Krafty Kids
Krafty Kids supports disadvantaged and vulnerable children through art-based enrichment. We partner with community organizations to offer hands-on art events that empower underserved youth to grow social-emotional skills, self-expression, and community through creativity.
Our approach is grounded in research on social-emotional learning and informed by data insights from participant feedback. Activities are designed to support emotional development and resilience, and we use donated and reusable materials to keep programs sustainable, low-waste, and accessible to every child.
Krafty Kids was founded by Maya Panchal, a student volunteer who has spent the past three years leading creative sessions for kids in her community. She started Krafty Kids to make these opportunities more consistent and more widely available, so more children can experience strength, joy, and connection through art.
Outside of Krafty Kids, Maya loves swimming, field hockey, and writing poetry, and she brings that same curiosity and care into every session she leads.
